Who Should You Vote For in the Presidential Election? (Please respond by 3:00 PM on Friday, December 2)

For our blog this week, I found a creative way to see who all of you might vote for if the presidential election were this week. Please sign up for a free account on the link I have posted below. Once you sign up, the site will instruct you to follow some pretty simple steps about what issues might be important to you followed by a series of questions. Please use your school email when signing up. After you have been "selected" with your presidential choice, post your choice on here. Do you agree or disagree? Could you see yourself voting for this person if the election were today? Have fun!

Well, the person I had the most in common with was apparently Herman Cain. I am not very fond of him and could never see myself voting for him. I think that he needs to either get his story straight and release it to the public or to resign from the race. I feel like he has dug himself into a hole, and that if he were to get the Republican nomination, he would just hurt the party in the long run. I don't think that if he were to run against Obama, he would win. The Republicans need a strong candidate with lots of potential. The support for Obama keeps decreasing, so the Republicans have a very good chance if they can choose the right candidate. Also, my third person who came up was Michelle Bachmann. I could see myself voting for her because she believes in many of the same things I do. By the websites overall evaluation, we are completely "in love" when it comes to issues of guns, healthcare, immigration, national security, and taxes. In conclusion, I would not vote for Herman Cain who was my first match in a primary elections in which he running against more qualified Republicans. However, if he secured the Republican nomination, I would vote Cain over Obama without even thinking twice about it.

I got the same result as Carolyn where it said that I related most to Hermain Cain. I think this is iffy. I would never actually vote for him because of all the drama going on with him and his obvious inconsistancy. I was matched with him because of our similar views on abortion, economy, gay rights, and some views on immigration. We both feel that abortion should be illegal no matter what and learning this about Cain made me like him just a tiny bit more. We both feel that manufacturing jobs should be created to boost the economy and employ citizens. We both feel that gay's should be able to be open about themselves in military services and should be able to marry. Also, we both believe illegal immigration is terrible and needs to be stopped and those who live here illegally need to get out. now. So, overall, we do have some views in common which is nice but I would never nominate him for the Republican candidte. But, like Carolyn, I would pick him over Obama.

The person I had the most in common with was Rick Santorum, then Michelle Bachmann, then Herman Cain. I am not very sure of who Rick Santorum is, so I do not know if I would agree to actually vote for him. While looking at his profile on the website of the stances he had, I had disagreements on a few but there were many that I would concur with him on. He seems very conservative from my first impression and I am not sure that I would support him, but from what I know right now, he seems like an okay candidate. I would not vote for Bachmann because I think she's a little crazy... Also, I would not vote for Hermain Cain because of all the allegations he is getting from women and the lack of experience he has in the political field.

According to the results, it states that I had the most in common with Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, and then Newt Gingrich. I have to say that I don't completely disagree with this match since we did share many of the same opinions on abortion and healthcare. However, I still don't consider myself as a true Republican. At this point, I feel like I could go either way between the two parties since I agree and disagree with certain opinions each party believes in. Since it is most likely that Romney will get the Republican nomination for president, I could definitely see myself voting for him instead of Obama because of his lack of "change" to this country.

According to the website my three top people that I have the most in common with are Herman Cain with 79%, Rick Perry 71%, and Newt Gingrich with 66%. The views that Herman and I have in common are on abortion, the economy, education, gay rights, healthcare, and taxes. While I agree that Herman Cain has dug himself a hole and the situation is not good, I do not think he should drop out of the race. It is pretty obvious he will most likely not win the nomination and you may say then why not just drop out? I think if he drops out it will look bad on the Republican Party and it will look bad on himself because that shows he is admitting to the allegations that he has been denying thus far. If Rick Perry would also drop out of the race because of the blunders he has made, where does that leave the Republican Party? Many believe Mitt will already get the nomination, but Republicans do not want him to "slack off" with no competition. However, I am very interested in learning about Newt Gingrich and what he has to offer. If I had to decide today, I would vote for any of these three over Obama.

According to the website I would vote for Jon Huntsman. For me personally I do not know him very well, however I do agree on many of the same issues. One of the main issue that we agreed on was abortion. Like Julie said, I am also not sure with what party I am affiliated with. I like different things about each party. In this situation I don’t think I would end up voting for Huntsman due to the fact that I honestly have never heard of him. However, if I did more research and learned more about him I think I could end up voting for him. For right now however, I do not see myself voting for him.

I am matched with Mitt Romney at 57% then Rick Perry at 56%, and Jon Huntsman at 54%. I am not surprised I am matched with Republicans but I am surprised that I am matched in the 50 percentile and not any higher. I think that this is because I am more moderate about some issues than others. For example, I agree with Mitt Romney on economy and education but not on immigration and foreign policy. I think that this could be because Mitt Romney is a Republican much of his stances are dictated by his party, therefore making them more right wing than I am.

According to the website, my matches are Jon Huntsman 66%, Barrack Obama 63% and Ron Paul 59%. I am not surprised that my first match is a Republican candidate. Since I did not know much about Jon Huntsman, I did a little more research on his stances on current issues, additional to the ElectNext website. Although I still don't know too much on several issues, I discovered that he plans to create many new jobs to help fix our very poor economic condition. I agree with this idea. The main thing I like about Huntsman is that he is Pro-Life and strongly agrees that the Roe v Wade court case should be overturned. I listed abortion as my number one Top Issue, so this is pretty important to me, and the fact that Huntsman is Pro-Life earns him big points in my book. On a side note, I have no idea why Obama is listed as my second match, considering I think that he should be taken out of office.......sooner than later, preferably.

All my matches ended up being republican, Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, and Jon Huntsman. I had a 91% match with Mitt Romney and I couldn't be happier with that match. I have been in favor of Romney from the beginnging from how he acts as a candidate, his personality and overrall, the issues he supports. Next year, I will be able to vote, and no doubt I will be voting for Romney. Hopefully Romney will get the Republican candidate and then our country will soon be on its way to "change".

According to the results, I would most likely vote for Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, or John Huntsmans. Newt Gingrich and I have simular views on abortion, Foreign policy, the economy, taxes, and immigration. However we were never perfectly matched up with him on any of these issues. We also did not have simular views about issues such as the environment and national security. The other two candidates contained simular view with simualar results. I don't know a lot about Newt Grinrich or John Huntsman, but based on the results I could see myself voting for any of these candidates if they won the Republican nomination.

After answering some of the questions, I was matched with Barack Obama, Jon Huntsman, and Mitt Romney. I was not surprised that Barack Obama was my number one match. However, I was a bit surprised that we matched up 91%. I knew, obviously, that I favored Obama and the Democratic Party over the Republican Party and their candidates, but I did not think that my views on things matched up so well with Obama’s. When I explored the different categories to compare our answers, the heart next to almost all of the categories was overflowing with love, so apparently we had the same answers for a lot of the questions. If the election were taking place this week and I was eligible to vote, I would vote for Obama. I like this website because I learned a lot about the issues specifically and about how my views compared to Obama’s, As for the two Republican candidates I have the most in common with, I do not know much at all about Jon Huntsman and if I absolutely had to pick a republican candidate, I suppose I might choose Mitt Romney. He seems like he knows what he’s talking about and has been running a fairly smooth campaign thus far, so I would favor him over the other republican’s running for office.

The top three Presidential candidates I was matched with were Herman Cain (71%), Newt Gingrich (70%), and Michele Bachmann (68%). The reason I was matched with Herman Cain was due to the fact that we are in total agreement on the issues of abortion, healthcare, and taxes. Because of similar views on the issues of abortion, the economy, and taxes, I was matched with Newt Gingrich. Michele Bachmann and I shared opinions on the issues of abortion, the economy, healthcare, and taxes. Although Herman Cain was calculated to be the most politically similar to me, I would not vote for him in the Presidential election because of the accusations of sexual harassment filed against him. I originally was not very aware of Newt Gingrich’s views or political experience, and after further research, I realized that I would not want to elect him as the President due to his past involvement in an ethics scandal in which he was accused of possible tax violations. I also personally do not think that Michele Bachmann would make a good President because she does not always seem to know what she is talking about, and I also think she appears a little crazy sometimes. In addition to these top three candidates, I was also matched with Jon Huntsman (68%), Rick Santorum (68%), Ron Paul (68%), Mitt Romney (66%), Rick Perry (65%), and Barack Obama (35%). I was surprised to learn that I shared views with Barack Obama on the issues of education, gay rights, immigration, and national security (the hearts were all the way filled up). If the Presidential election were today I am not sure who I would vote for because I do not really know enough about all the candidates yet.

After answering many questions I was matched with Jon Huntsman. Until recently, I hadn't really heard a lot about Huntsman which surprises me because he is close to the top for winning the Republican nomination. Unlike some of the other candidates, I have not formed a strong opinion on Jon Huntsman yet. From what I've heard of him I think I could favor him, Im not sure which political party I side with though. I think I would have to agree with my match because looking at what he stands for, must of his views are in line with my own. What surprised me was that my second match, only by 2% less, was Barack Obama. This surprises me so much because these men come from two different political parties, which I don't see how my answers would have been so split down the middle. I must say that there are issues I agree with Democrats on while other issues I agree with the Republicans. I guess I could see myself voting for Jon Huntsman in the up coming election.

My first three were Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, and then Herman Cain. I was surprised that Santorum was my first match, because I don't know very much about him and I only heard of him last week. However, I looked at his opinions, and we agreed on abortion, education, and foreign policy issues. I already know about Mitt Romney and I like him the best out of the three. I don't like Herman Cain very much, but I would obviously still vote for him over Obama. If I could vote, there is a chance I would vote for Santorum, I would just like to learn more about him.

My top three matches were Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, and Rick Perry. I could definately see myself voting for Romney, who I share a 64% match with. He handles himself well in public and has had no scandals break out! Which is always good. Also we share the same views on healthcare, the economy and immigration, which are three of the issues I find most important. I feel that the republicans need a strong candidate for the presidency and Mitt definately holds those qualities. I know for a fact that I would choose any of these men I was matched with over Obama; I just hope that it will be Romney.

After hearing some of the main points President Obama described in his State of the Union speech, do you believe he is taking America in the right direction?
