In the never ending saga that is the Republican race for the nomination, it appears we may be closer to finding an answer. With Super Tuesday approaching this week and Mitt Romney winning the states of Arizona and Michigan last week, my question for you is a simple one: have we finally found the person to face Barack Obama this fall, or, will this never ending story take another turn? Is it possible for a "dark horse" to emerge this late in the primary season?

ok that was a joke. i actually do believe with the yes thing though! Romney is the clear choice, and even if some Republicans don't like Romney, they need to accept that he is the only one who can beat Obama. I do not think that a new name could emerge at this point and take the game, unless it is someone like Chris Christie. The only clear and consistent choice through this entire race has been Romney, and I think he will get the nomination, especially considering his recent winnings.
Like Annie said, yes. Mitt Romney WILL receive the Republican nomination and beat Obama in November. I have been a strong supporter of Romney since he first decided he was running. Even though he may not be the most conservative candidate, he has the best chance of beating Obama. I also feel that Romney is the most 'presidential' and would be the best president. People think Santorum is the frontrunner, but they don't realize that Romney has so many more delegates than him already and Super Tuesday hasn't happened yet. I don't think a 'dark horse' will emerge. It's already March, so the newest candidate would already be extremely far behind on delegates. The probability that a candidate could come out of nowhere now and somehow get enough delegates to pass Romney is highly unlikely. Romney is going to be the Republican nominee and our next president.
Yes we have found the Republican candidate and I have felt this way from the very beginning. Romney is the only one who stands out the most in a positive way and like emily said, has been around the longest. Many candidates have come and gone like Gingrich and Cain but none have lasted. Romney has been the most stable candidate but that is not the only reason why he is the best choice to beat Obama. He has proved through debates and caucues that he is focused on reviving our country and helping us come out of this resession. I mean at any point a candidate could emerge out of nowhere like Santorum and Gingrich did but as the race is coming to an end, i feel like people will now only focus on Romney and Santorum rather than a new face, which seemed to be appealing to the country at first. Hopefully the country will realize that welcoming a new candidate at this point in the race will do us no good if our goal is to beat Obama.
I'm still a little bit on the rocks with Romney. I think Santorum still has a chance. From the article, I can see that Santorum is still very close to Romney, only following him by a distance of less than ten percent. I think that They will most likely duke it out until the very end, which is not going to be good for the Republican party. Contrary to a lot of people, I actually think Santorum has a good chance of going up against Obama. Romney has a really good chance too. I think with the hard times and no change that the United States continues to experience will definitely out-weigh the cons of the Republican candidates. I do not believe that any new name could emerge because it is way to late in the game. He/she would not have enough time to get enough popularity to beat either Santorum of Romney. I think that these two candidates will be neck to neck until the last vote is cast. Until then, we just have to hope that whichever candidate wins can really muster up the strength to beat Obama.
With Super Tuesday coming to a close, so will the Republican nomination race. I believe that Romney will end up winning in the end. For the past couple of months many people were unsure as to who would end up pushing through as the Republican nominee. The nominations seemed to be very fickle and seemed to change every so often. There was never really a constant nominee besides Romney. Someone new seemed to pop in and out of the picture. It was very confusing when it came to who was on top for the Republican Party. However, now I believe that it is clear as to who will be the final republican nomination. It has been a long process for many people but I do not think that there will be any more surprises. Romney seems to be the favorite by a small margin and I believe that many people are deciding to vote for him because they are afraid that Obama will end up winning. I have heard that the only person who could end up beating Obama is Romney and many people feel the same way. This fear and consistency is the one thing that keeps pushing people to vote for Romney. Even though Romney seems to be the leader I believe that Santorum will be close behind. Super Tuesday will have a huge effect on the republican nomination.
First of all, I wish this constant battling between candidates would end. It is not a good start to the Republican campaign because all the fighting is dragging each of their names through the mud. I hope that Romney is the person who will face Obama this fall. I think that he has the best chance of beating Obama which should be the goal of the Republican party. It seems to be impossible for a dark horse to emerge this far into the race because so many delegates have already been won. Also, as Kelly said, Romney is the most presidential. Santorum and Gingrich need to step down so Romney can spend his time focusing on the presidential campaign and not on the primaries. Romney is my pick even though he is not the most typical Republican. Hopefully Romney will beat Obama in 2012.
I believe that yes, we have found our Republican candidate. Romney is obtains the most consistency, dedication, potential, and reliance of all the Republican nominees. Romney had shown his consistency but always being one of the lead runners, has shown his dedication by not giving up through the campaign so far, his potential by being a competitive debater, and his reliance by always being there for the Republican party (going along with his consistency). It is going to be a tough race going up against Obama but I think Romney definitely has the most potential and support to beat him. I think it is set that the Republican candidate to go against Obama in the 2012 election will definitely be Mitt Romney. He is the most reliant and consistent while having the most potential to beat out Obama. Hands down.
Do I believe we have found our Republican candidate? Well yes, I hope so! This fighting and wondering of who will win what is getting annoying and aggravating. Republicans need to figure themselves out and with yesterday being Super Tuesday, I think they have. Most likely the nomination with go to Mitt Romney and he will face Obama coming the fall of 2012. I don’t believe that any dark horses will appear because frankly, it is too late. I say Santorum still has a small chance, but in the end I believe Romney will win. Like we talked about in class today, it is scary to see how much money is already being invested in the election currently. We don’t even have a nominee yet and the money is flying everywhere. Obama has so much saved up for this election, and Republicans need to be cautious. This is leading up to Obama having a better chance of winning and if Republicans want to do something about it, they need to do it now.
Yes. I think that the Republican party finally has a candidate. Although, the Republican race has been all over the place, Mitt Romney has been the only consistant candidate. Santorum and Romney are the only options at this point and although I like Santorum, I don't think he has the ability to beat Obama. Romney has some shakey ideas, but when it comes down to it, he's the best choice if we want to get Obama out of office. I feel that Santorum is still in it, especially since many of the states whose primaries are coming up, are not big on Romney. However, even if Santorum wins more states, I think that he will still fall short. Like we discussed in class, whoever wins is ultimately at a huge disadvantage because both candidates are using sooo much money on the primaries...what's left for the big race against Obama?! I'm not sure, but they (most likely Romney) better figure it out, and soon!
Yes, I think that Super Tuesday showed that, though the Republican party is split, that Romney has the best chance of winning the nomination. I think that Romney will be facing Obama in the fall, because as much as some people don't like Romney, the only other option is Santorum, who's campaign is losing momentum as we speak. My opinion is that now we see who the best front runner is, I think that the other candidates should bite the bullet and step down in order to give the Republicans the best chance of winning back the White House. Also, I don't think that there would be a chance of a dark horse candidate running, unless it was someone with a huge amount of support, such as Chris Christe. I think that it is too far along the campaign trail for a fresh face to break into the inner circle and steal the show from Romney.
I think that Romney is probably going to be the Republican candidate running against Obama in the 2012 presidential election because although he is not the only major candidate, his lead is significant enough to get the nomination. Romney has been consistent in his popularity, and I think that he has the best chance of beating Obama as he has the strongest and most publicized image. Although I think that Romney will eventually get the nomination, I do think that race will be close, especially between Romney and Santorum. The “never ending story” of the Republican nomination has certainly gone on too long and has divided the party, so I really hope that the decision of who the nominee will be is made quickly. I think that it is impossible for a “dark horse” to emerge this late in the primary season because I think that most American Republicans really just want to know who the candidate is. Because Romney has consistently remained popular, I think that he will most definitely win the Republican nomination.
I do think that the Republican's have found their person to run against Barack Obama in the upcoming presidential election, Mitt Romney. Even thought it has been a roller coaster ride among all of the Republican candidates in the opinion pools and elections, I think that Mitt Romney has shown the only semi-steady approval rating among the candidates. I think Romney is the Republican's best chance at having the possibility of beating Obama at this point and now all efforts of the Republican party should be focused on him in order to win. I don't think there is any possibility for a "dark horse" to emerge. Romney has been able to build up his name and followers to be able to bring down any candidate who comes up against him. If Romney wins the Republican nomination, I think Obama really needs to step-up his game in order to put up a good fight against Romney. I see Romney as a good politician and potential president, but like we have been talking about in class, Obama does hold the incumbency advantage. It will be interesting to see how the polls go once it comes down to Obama and Romney.
It is most likely that Mitt Romney will be the Republican candidate for the presidential election. He has had constant support, the most money, and is currently the front runner. It think the only other possibility is that Santorum will catch up, but in the end I think Romney will win the primary. This late in the race I don't think anyone else really has a chance because the country is already considering two candidates and with a crucial election coming up, I don't think anyone wants to add a third person to consider for the nomination. After Super Tuesday republicans have a better idea of who has the best chance in the primary and focus their support on Romney to end the primaries and start campaigning for November.
I personally believe that in the end, Romney will Take the Republican nomination over Santorum. Ajnce this race has started Romney has always seemed ti be the favorite and frontrunner among the Republican party. Santorum on the other hand has only had moments of popularity whicb has all of the sudden risen. However, Repuhlicans should be concerned on whetherbhis popularity will decrease just as fast as it has increased if he elected into office. Santorum could have skeletons waiting tobcome out of the closet during thr summer, whicb could be detrimental to his popularity. We still really don't know a lot about Santorum either, other than he seems like a friendy guy.in my opinion, voters shiuld stick with Romney because he has been stable and consistent, so why change? Our nation needs some stability, so why not elect someone who exudes it.if Republicans want to win, then why wiuldnt they want to put their beat man out thereto run against an incumbent who has a surplus amount of capmaign money and could potentially be re-elected? Sounds like a dumb question to me.
